Anna Crosby runs Geni Collective, where she helps digital product creators make more money by selling their courses, workshops, and other digital products online, using email marketing and automation.

Doing business online has tremendous opportunities, but online marketing brings its own challenges as well. How do we take the in-person relationship-building we've learned instinctually, and translate it to the online space? Anna believes that email is the most powerful tool we have to build relationships online -- relationships that support, educate, and turn randos into friends and profitable customers.

How she got started:

My first introduction to doing business online was, unfortunately, with a group of "bro marketers" who taught pushy sales tactics, and constantly sent me emails that said that if I didn't buy their products it meant I was not serious about my business.

I was determined to find another way to do business online that felt good and authentic, and came from a place of wanting to help and serve first and foremost.

Being an introvert, I naturally gravitated towards email marketing, because it felt more like sitting down with a friend rather than shouting into the void of social media.

Through my work with clients, as well as developing my own business strategy over the years, I found that email marketing creates the perfect balance between nurture and sales. The capabilities of email automation we have these days make it the perfect way to ensure that balance for every new subscriber.

How her method is different:

I teach my clients how to create sales funnels. It's not the simplest topic, with a lot of misinformation and "shoulds" around it. I strive to un-complicate the process, and coach my clients to create simple yet effective funnels that help them reach their business goals -- with no extras, complex and expensive tools, or bells/whistles that won't add value.
